Hakodate Foreign General Cemetery
Area:Motomachi Area

The Hakodate Foreign General Cemetery is the tranquil final resting place for many foreigners who died in Hakodate, including two United States marines from Admiral Perry's fleet. The cemetery was officially named in 1870. The cemetery is home to a variety of gravestones, including Chinese graves surrounded by red-bricked fence, round and low grave stones of protestants, and Russian graves. The cemetery is also well known for its commanding sunset views of the Hakodate shoreline.
