Hakodate Airport is located along the coast 10km to the east of downtown Hakodate. The interior of the new modern-designed terminal building that opened in 2005 includes wooden and brick walls as well as indirect lighting, creating a unique sense of warmth. The observation deck provides panoramic views of the runway, and views of Tsugaru Straits, Mount Hakodate and arriving and departing airplanes. The airport is one of Hokkaido's primary airports with international flights.
